Feelin lucky
You know I'm pretty easy to please. Getting something unexpected in the mail makes me happy. So, today being filled to the brim with unexpectedness made be feel like one lucky girl able to conquer the world. Well, the day started out with me winning tickets to see Drake Bell in concert. Not that I'm dying to see Drake Bell live you understand, but my kids are going to freak! That's what makes it so exciting. It also happens to be the ONLY thing I've ever won in my life. You gotta start somewhere, right? So, then I get the mail. A birthday card...how nice, the new bras I had ordered, $1000 check... I would have to repay if cashed...still, the Scentsy products I ordered to sponsor my friend Patty in the Race for the Cure, a free sandwich coupon from my insurance agent, and a lottery ticket. Oh boy with the day I've been having I knew I was gonna be a winner. Ok, I wasn't but a girl can't have everything now can she?

Battle wounds...
Pickle came home last night with an unwelcome guest riding his back. The boy had a tick! I was going to post a picture of a tick but honestly could not bring myself to do it. Those things are nasty! I feel nauseous just talking about it. I, of course being convinced the little blood sucker brought friends, spent the entire evening searching every inch of his gear and my home for ticks. All the while very determinedly itching the skin off my body and hair from my scalp. I'm feeling a little raw.
Nugget came home with some battle wounds of his own. One big honkin bulls eye of a bruise on his thigh and one little one on his neck that makes him look like he has ring worm. That one... the ring worm... he received from none other than Mr. M. When confronted about shootin my baby in the neck his response was "Oops". Who would have known that with all the paint holding thugs out there the only one the Nug really needed to worry about was his own father.

Weekend update...
It's been a beautiful weekend! A few thunderstorms and the wind has been hurricanish but I'm willing to overlook that because it's finally warm! I had begun to forget how it feels to walk out the door without doing anything more than slipping on a pair of flip flops. I even went as far as turning on the air on Friday. No, it wasn't dreadfully hot but it was humid and with the wind, opening all the windows wasn't really an option. I tried...things were flying across the room. There's also the fact that I had a purse party. There were purses covering every visible surface of my home and with all the people it made the air not being on an inconceivable notion.
Pickle's been away all weekend. Another one of his many Scouting Adventures. Nugget's been "technically" home. I say that 'cause now that it's warm, I hardly see him. There's always a game going on somewhere he needs to join or a bike ride that must be had. So, it's been pretty quiet around here.
Mr.M and Nugget will be heading out shortly to go Paintballing with a group from church. Pickle was a little bummed he wouldn't be able to go and being that it's a father/son trip, I can't go either. It'll be a fun bonding experience for them, I know. I so want to go Paintballing though! Sounds like so much fun. Guess we'll have to plan our own trip there soon.
Time to go see my boys off to war....

Pretty in butterfly wings...
I've been following a blog lately called Creative musings. You know how I like jewelry that's different and won't see anyone else wearing. Well, she has an Etsy shop selling some pretty unusual pieces. If you're like me, you might not have ever heard of Etsy before. Since I discovered it on her page though, I've come to realize that it's quite popular. A place to sell your own creations. Pretty cool. Anyway.. I just have to show you one of these pieces...

It's made with a moth's wing. Unbelievable, right? I've always loved butterflies and pretty moths so I find it fascinating that someone found a way to use them for jewelry. She might not be the first but it's certainly the first time I've ever seen it. Don't fret though.... the pretties weren't killed to make the jewelry. It's explained on her Etsy shop if you're interested.
Only downfall.... this necklace, like a lot of her stuff, sells pretty quickly. I'm keeping my eyes peeled...I just might catch me one yet!

Sunny days again...
The weather has FINALLY gotten nice here. It's gorgeous out there. You know what that means..... time to start mowing the lawn. Practically the whole town's got me beat on that one. We were one of the very few who weren't out there doing it today. I have excuses of course. A yard full of sticks and poo. That's about as good as an excuse as any, right? That and the fact that we all thought it'd be a dandy idea to get a push mower last year...such great exercise. Boy that was dumb. No one with a yard this size should be push mowing. It's ridiculous. It's torturous. It's ...ah, you get my point. As for the poop collection, any takers???

When bunnies attack

See this guy? One of eight I counted in my yard this morning. Not sure what the obsession these fluffy butts have with my yard lately... there aren't any plants or flowers to tempt them... but it's getting a little out of hand. I love bunnies as much as the next gal but I'm not really into the whole "having my own bunny farm" thing. They've some how made holes about every ten feet completely around the bottom of our fence... big enough that the cup can fit herself through them. We need a new fence. Even though I have two dogs, you're more liking to step in a pile of bunny droppings than dog poop. It's every where and I'm finding it a little difficult to scoop up a million little pellets. Also a little difficult to keep the dogs away from the pellets. They seem to think someone scattered treats all over the backyard for them. Can you hear me gagging right now?

Cadbury take me away......

It will soon be Easter and out of all the sugary, delicacies filling up baskets year after year my all time favorite is the Cadbury Egg. Not the newer versions with caramel or chocolate but the original. The one with the ewie gooey nasty looking yolk in the middle. Yum. I can't eat but one at a time for fear my teeth will rot and fall out right there in the middle of the second egg. Pure slimy sugar. So at one, I stop. Nothing beats the pure heaven of biting into one of these foil wrapped beauties. I'm ready now. Cadbury, take me away.....

Desperately seeking Capris
I'd like to rant for a minute if I may... of course I can it's my blog... about a subject that has been causing me a great deal of stress lately. You know other than vehicle issues, storm damages, and the economy. This issue stresses me because of the fact that it shouldn't be an issue at all. It 'tis Capris. Dum Dum Dum Duuuum.
I'm not sure if the rest of the world is aware of it yet, but we have a Capri crisis on our hands. Something unforeseeable has happened to the fashion industry to cause such stress in the life of little 'ole me. They've decided that cuffing Capris would be the latest craze. I'm sorry, when you're 5'3" this is not a good thing. You can't uncuff them... unless you're goin for that "I'm a gonna go waden' down by the crick now ma" look. Floods are not and never will be a fashion do.
If you are lucky enough to find the uncuffed Capris, you have unfortunate things to look forward to like big, buttoned flaps on the butt pockets, strings and toggles on the legs, bling....Oh Lord don't get me started on the bling, and wide legs. Why would you want your Capris to have wide legs? Isn't that then technically gaucho pants? Then there's the tears. I'm all into that distressed look. Bring it on. The recent obsession with placing these tears on the hip and thigh region though... what fool came up with that bright idea? It's like those little tears are screaming "Look at me, look at me, I'm a big fat thigh." I could be wrong but isn't the whole point of the tears to look like what you're wearing is naturally distressed... your beloved old pair of "whatever" that you will wear 'til they fall apart? Who wears out the thighs of their jeans?
Some may say I'm picky but come on! Is a regular old pair of Capris really that much to ask for?

Memories...
Seems like only yesterday this photo was taken. But it can't be... they're embracing. That certainly doesn't happen often these days. Notice the fence in the background? They're shorter than the 4 ft. fence! I feel myself getting misty. Where's a kleenex when you need one? See that black rubber boot? You can only see the one where little Nugget's pant leg is jacked up. God, he loved those boots. He wore them almost every day... even with shorts. I believe he grew out of 2 pairs before he moved on to tennis shoes. Pickle sticking his butt to the camera...that boy has always been the comedian. Where did the years go?
