Should have bought box cards...

4 days til Christmas.  4 days and I still have not sent Christmas cards.  Technically 3 days considering there won't be any mail being delivered on the blessed day.  So 3 days and no cards!  I realize I probably waited a bit to long to order them but come on.... they get them done in a day or so.  They shipped out a week ago.  So, where are they?  Maybe they went to someone else who just loved the looks of us so much they decided to keep the entire batch for themselves.  Then there's the possibility that I never even ordered them since I was thrown off the website 4 times while trying to create them.  I did get an email saying they saved my work and it wasn't to late to order.  That one came after the email stating they'd been shipped though.  So, I may or may not have ordered cards that may or may not be plastered all over some lonely persons living room somewhere.
No worries people... you haven't been cut from the list.  You simply might be getting cards after your trees come down.

Fa la la la freakin la

Well Fa la la la freakin la.  Can't help but feeling slightly scroogish this year.  I've tried to consume myself with all things festive.  Bought the tree.  It's fake.  Who cares.  I like it.  It's pretty.  Real trees don't make you better.  Especially if you're just getting them out of a parking lot some where.  Come on...  If you're not going to go through the whole "becoming a man by yelling timber"  What is the point?  So there.
Put up lights and decorations outside.  Considering I'll probably only turn them on a couple times before Christmas, really not sure why we bothered with that.  They are pretty but I can't help visioning planes coming in for a landing on my front lawn as I sit there embarrassingly bundled up for my nightly smoke.  It isn't a sight to be seen but I've grown way past the looking cool stage of my life.  Warmth before fashion model.  Who cares if I look like an eskimo gone wrong.
A few presents have been bought.  It isn't as fun as the days of crayons and toys though.  What is Christmas without toys I ask you!!!  Depressing.  That's what it is.  Only so many electronics and clothes a person can have.  And I refuse to buy any more skinny jeans!  What is with boys these days?  How do you...umm...sit comfortably?   As for shopping... don't get me started on the mall.  Still can't figure out how every rude ass freak in the world knows when I'm going to the mall and plans their day accordingly.  Is it wrong to want to knock them down with my 20 lb. purchase from Bath and Body Works?  I don't think so.  After all, I could do much worse.
Excuse me while I go debate on whether to make cookies or just eat the dough.

Turkey Day Tom Foolery

Thanksgiving break went way to fast. Then again, they always do. We went to brotha Steve and Sista Mel's for Turkey Day this year. You know how with family gatherings there's the usual drama of who will knock down who by the end of the day? There was none of that. Crazy, I know. I can hardly believe it myself. It was truly relaxing and quite a good time. Thanks guys! And now a little bit of our Tom Foolery...

The only thing left to do now is wait for Christmas break.

Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah

Are you serious? It's been almost a month since I last blogged? I knew I'd been slacking but come on. That's just ridiculous. I guess I could use the excuse that life's just crazy hectic and finding time to do things like shaving my legs, dying my roots... which are scary old witch white at the moment, and blogging are not on the top of my priority list. Now, that you're all picturing me as a hairy old hag of a wicked witch... OK strike that. Actually, I'm in the best shape of my life. As a matter of fact, I was offered a centerfold gig. Of course I declined. I'm not that kind of girl. That's much better. Feeling a little more like a rock star now. You can believe what you want to but that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Honestly, just haven't had much to blog about. It's cold, running kids to and from this to that... same ole, same ole. So much for the rock star super model eh?

Great now I'm gonna be singing "Angel is a centerfold" all day. "My blood runs cold. My memory has just been sold. My angel is the centerfold. Angel is the centerfold. Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah, Nah Nah Nah Nah, Nah Nah Nah Nah..."

Where Oh Where has Fall gone?

We've some how skipped fall and gone straight to winter. It is so flippin cold! Not only are we wearing the winter coats, but I also got out the boots, hats, gloves, and scarf this weekend too. UNBELIEVABLE! Terrifies me what winter's actual arrival might bring. Better load up on the firewood and buckle down for the long haul folks cause it's just gonna get worse. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Fight like a girl

So glad September is over! For a variety of personal reasons, always the worst month of the year. So I very much welcome October. October, amongst many other things, is Breast Cancer Awareness month. I love going store to store seeing all the great things they've come out with for the cause. Pink, pink and more pink...what's not to love. Here's the latest that I'll be sporting...

That's right...fight like a girl! I love it!
We certainly support and donate to all cancer awareness though, not just the boobies.
Do what you can to help people!

Angel's 15 minutes...

Angel giving a speech...

She was recently inducted into the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society and was asked to give a speech. She succeeded in giving a very touching speech that brought the room to tears. Felt a little bit like someone should be handing her an oscar instead of a certificate. An emmy, a moon man... Don't worry, no one stood up and went all "Kanye West at the VMAs" on her. She deserved the award and everyone knew it. And where was the camera crew? Oh yeah, that was me. I need to get a better camera if I'm gonna keep up with all these events. Anyway, back on track....
Afterwards, we went to the Olive Garden to celebrate.

We're very proud of you Angel. Keep up the hard work!

Hats all around...

hmmm fancy hat love must run in the family. How did I miss out on this trend? I better get my butt to the store and get one. What about you Sista K? Where's your hat? Oh wait...

Yours might not be quite as fancy as the others but it sure is the tallest. Suppose I'll need to get one now...

Blah Blah Blah

Have you heard of the Blah girls? It's an animated website done by Ashton Kutcher. Immature... yes, mostly stupid... of course, worth checking out... why not? Kind of the female version of South Park. Here's a little sample for your enjoyment...

No fun being a bitty...

This past weekend was town garage sales. Grandma had a sale so I spent both Thursday and Friday over there helping out. Late Friday afternoon we began to pack up. The last thing to be carried in was a big plastic tub Grandma had filled with breakables. Not wanting Grandma to fall and get hurt again, I insisted on carrying it in myself. Whoa heavier than I thought it'd be. I think I took 2 steps before catching my foot on the ledge of the sidewalk and going down. I guess I forgot the wise words..."Don't be the hero". Almost like I was asking for it.... Hey, better than Grandma falling though, right?
Anyway, I have been walking hunched over ever since. Can't bend over very well or make any sudden moves. Dear little nugget even did an impression of me as a little ole bitty saying "Keep off my flowers you little wippersnappers!" Thanks nugget. You little turd. Seriously though he's been a lot of help all weekend. His bitty impression even made me laugh...painfully...but still. I believe I'm on the mend today though. Having bouts of feeling nothing from time to time. Bliss!

Yet another chapter on animal rescues...

My family has a sort of animal magnetism. No, not like that! I'm talking animals seem to be drawn to us and the bleeding hearts that we are...well, there's always something. Probably the reason we have so many pets and over the years have had a barnyard of others. So considering, it really shouldn't be a shock to anyone to know that we recently were put in the situation of dealing with 3 baby squirrels. Only 2 of them survived...

Tiny little babies. Feeding them an electrolyte and formula until we were able to get a hold of the woman who'd make anyone become a bleeding heart towards animals, if you weren't so already, and an irate fly killer... the nasty little culprits that lay eggs on the babies...the nerve of them. As she told us, "Every time you smash one of those little fuckers,"...maybe she didn't exactly say fuckers..."think of who you're killing them for." Killing the flies for the babies... in case you didn't catch that. I never thought of flys laying eggs on living things. Gag... ok enough maggot talk... bleck.

Anyways... this woman's name is Jenny Underwood. You may know her husband the man that sells the famous Fat Burger at Fat Alberts. Yum. So Jenny, this is our second visit to her over the years. It's such a strange, fascinating experience going to her house. You're filled with a childlike awe as you walk through the pack of fawn coming up and kissing your hands. Observing the incubators full of baby squirrels, raccoons, or whatever else wildlife has been brought to her. The woman's a saint. The woman's also 71 years old. After telling us noone else in the area does this sort of thing, that she'd probably do it til she died, then telling us probably won't be to long now... made me think. I was just telling my dear friend the other day how I believe my husband was born to do such things. We often joke of him bringing animals home like a young child would or how he's always finding something. He even commented on a couple country homes that recently came on the market. Maybe this is our sign...

If only I had the energy...

Sometimes... after watching my youngest practice for 2 hrs... every night... in the blazing heat... doing drill after drill... week after week... I feel incredibly lazy and pathetic. Could you IMAGINE the shape I'd be if I had one iota of determination that little Nugget does? I must ponder that while I have a snack ;)

The making of the fence

And now...finally... I bring you the making of the fence!

Old rusty chain link comes down...

Holes are dug...

Teamwork is the key...

Surprises unearthed...

Almost done...

A little stain and voila...

and then I did this...

The yard's really come a long way!

The return of my Sanity

The end of summer vacation means only one thing.... "Back, Back, Back, Back to Schoooool". I've been singing it for about a week now. The boys were eased back into the old routine by starting out easy...a half day. A teaser for parents, being our children were only gone for a mere 3 hours. A 3 hour time frame that I couldn't fully enjoy because I was on the constant move until they returned. To clean without children in the house... peaceful. And I baked... muffins and a cake. A Back to School cake.

Oh yeah, I went there. Move over June Cleaver I'm stealing the show. Hey, I'm a mom. I'm entitled to be a complete dork whenever I see fit and it just so happened to be one of those times. It was a day to celebrate...the return of my sanity. I love my boys dearly but believe me, returning to school was the best thing for everyone involved.
Totally forgot to take pictures when they left so I ambushed them when they got home. Probably the best thing anyway...they didn't know it was coming.

I admit I'm partial, but damn they're good looking! Enjoy the new school year boys. May you make many happy memories! Now excuse me while I enjoy this full day of quiet bliss... until 3:15 pm that is.

Good bye summer

School's starting back up. We say good bye to another summer that went way to fast. We took an end of the summer trip to Grady's with brother Steve and his family. As always when in their company, it was a good time. Of course, there are pics....
You can't even see the sweat we're drenched in.
Not a dry spot on 'em...bumper boats, not sweat.

I swear this one's gonna be a supermodel one day.

The three musketeers...One for all and all for one.

I love this photo! You gotta admit it turned out great Steve.

Miss Kylee wouldn't allow a photo of their family. So, you escaped my camera lens this time Melissa. Don't worry, I'll get you the next time around! hehe

New buns for me

I've recently started using these new flat buns.

I love them...all the varieties they have.
They're so thin I use them for not only bun worthy foods but for sandwiches too.

Being only 100 calories, hopefully these new buns will help me achieve some new buns!

Sight seeing in P town

Pontiac... or P town as we like to call it... so many strange, interesting things hiding in places one might never think to look. While recently visiting Miss C.J., she alerted me to the strange happenings going on in a back alley. While entering said back alley, this is what I found...

Look closely and you'll see me....

Cari even found a nice place to stop for a rest...and a prayer...

If only this soda shop was real...

You'd think they'd put this stuff out in the open! Don't worry, we didn't spend the entire day lurking in alleys. I was also introduced to Mr. Lincoln...
Taken to some of the finest clothing stores in town...and made it just in time for the fashion show..

Remember that punk ass blue dog? Well, here's another one of the fine crafted fellows which are strategically placed all over town...

Don't be embarrassed for us. Believe it or not, we saw many people wandering around with their cameras that day. Seems Pontiac's new found artsyness is quite the draw to travelers far and near.
